Randomness

*I've set a goal to read 30 books this year. I will finish number 7 tonight. Do you have a book recommendation? Let me know. I'm looking to revisit a classic or two next.

*The twins are all about the random 'I Love You' right now. For the love, it just gets better. Also I have heard that 'I'm the best mom' and that I make a 'great dinner' every night. What's that? Oh yeah, my heart just exploded.

*To PRE or not to PRE. That is the question around here. (Preschool that is.) Up until the beginning of this month, I was just about 100 percent sure that we would enroll them for the fall 3 year-old class. And now, well I'm about 90 percent sure I won't. Never been known for my decisiveness folks!

*I can't get enough hot tea around here. Morning and night. It's just so yum.

*I drive B nuts because I will go to store just because I'm out of carrots for the wild bunnies I feed. I just love those things so dang much. And how do the bunnies repay me? Well they just had all their babies in the neighbors yard. I feel used.

*There are about 15 random toys spread all over the floor here right now. And I just want to leave them for the night. And I wish I could. But I'm my mother's child and I can't, I have to clean it all up. But sometimes, sometimes I wish I could.

*Someday I will own really nice, expensive silverware. The super heavy kind. I have a cheap set from Bed, Bath + Beyond from our wedding 11 years ago. And it's fine. But someday, I want the grown up kind. And a Le Creuset dutch oven while we are at it. And a Michael Kors watch. And a nice wallet. Let's just stop this before it gets ridiculous.

*What you won't catch a former Krug-girl wearing this spring/summer? TOMS flats. Why you ask??? Because they are freaking 80 bucks! For flats! I mean I love TOMS, we own several pairs, and I really love their buy one give one philosophy. But for 80 bucks? It seems more like buy one, give 3 would be more realistic. Also, everyone and their sister will be wearing them. (Except me and mine of course.)

*Thank goodness it's almost March because
1.)March Madness
and
2.) Mad Men.

In the words of Lila, YAHOO!

1st Hair Cut

Lilee Pearl got her hair done did today.

This little lady has the most gorgeous long hair I have ever seen on a just-barely 3 year old.
Simply beautiful.

But it had grown to her waist. And sometimes would get stuck in her pants.

So we just trimmed the the bottom couple of inches.

She's a doll and loved every minute of the pampering. And she still has the longest 3-year-old her I've ever seen.

The stylist even let Lincoln get in on the fun with some red hair gel. My. We called him Lightening McSwish because obviously he was RED like McQueen.

Things That Make Me Go Hmmmm...

I have met quite a few people in my life that tell me I don't look a thing like a 'Karla'.

Okaaaay.

Is that a compliment? A dig on my name perhaps? Do I just not do the name justice???

Consequently, I have also met lots of people that tell me I look exactly like a 'Karla'.

And so what in the world does THAT mean?

Today was an I do-not-look-like-a-Karla-type-of-day.
(According to a random lady.)

So if you happen to think about it, someone please tell me what the freak a KARLA looks like.

K. Thanks. Bye.

Half Empty Full

It's been rough around here the last couple of weeks.

Uhhhhh!

I'm so dang tired. Like I-have-a-newborn-baby tired.

Except that I don't.

It's just that Brian's knee just hasn't been right since his surgery in the fall. And then the call we got a week and half ago from his doc that we needed to do another surgery. ASAP. And the subsequent hospital stay. And then daddy being laid up. And Lincoln showing us how strong his will is every 5 minutes. And Lila letting us hear her whiny voice more in the past week and half than we ever have. Cue the puking dog. And the broken dryer. And Brian's phone getting stolen. And I almost chopped my finger off while preparing dinner. And when we went to a restaurant this week and I dropped not one, but 2 entire plates of food on the floor. And the rain. My goodness, THE RAIN!
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

But I'm over it.

I just can't even focus on that sheeeee for one. more. minute.

There is just too much to be thankful for.

I get to co-parent with Brian. I just adore that guy. And my kids are healthy, strong and smart. And I will get to fold super-hero capes and tutus again when my dryer is fixed tomorrow. And my mom came and helped for a whole week! And I got a pedicure today. And I have gift certificate for a massage that I found in the bottom of our junk drawer. That will be used very soon. And we finally found a babysitter this week. And we have the most awesome neighbors. And I can still get Meyer lemons at the market. And we are 2 months away from Italy. And I got to hold 2 little babies, miracle babies no less, in the NICU last night during my first volunteer shift.
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

And we call this a perspective change folks....otherwise known as a big, fat
Attitude Adjustment.

Which is exactly what the doctor ordered after this rocky week.

And now I'm off to hide hearts all around the house for our little Valentines.
And we have a lunch date with daddy tomorrow.

It's gonna be a good day.
